Boston History
The history of Boston is long and storied. Originally it was settled in 1630 by Puritans from England. During the late 18th century, the city served a major role in pre-revolutionary and revolutionary America. The famous Boston Tea Party occurred here in 1773, and the opening campaign of the Revolutionary War took place in and around the city.

Following the war, Boston grew rapidly. Its last major annexation was that of Hyde Park—it was then that Boston took on its modern look. Since the early 21st century, the city has become an intellectual, technological, and political center.
