Home Properties Sponsors 7th Annual Food Drive

FoodDrive Home Properties recently sponsored our 7th annual food drive at all of our apartment communities. During this event, residents and employees donated non-perishable food and hygiene items which were given to local food banks to help our neighbors in need. In addition, Home Properties made cash contributions to these food banks. The food drive is timed so that the food banks receive the donations prior to the Thanksgiving holiday, when need is especially strong.

This year’s food drive brought in over 13,000 pounds of food, bringing our seven-year total to 88,000 pounds! The food banks we support include Maryland Food Bank (Baltimore-area properties), The Greater Boston Food Bank (Boston, MA apartments), The Greater Chicago Food Depository (Chicago-area communities), Capital Area Food Bank (Washington, DC-area properties), Long Island Cares, Inc. (Long Island properties), Community Food Bank of New Jersey (New Jersey apartments), Philabundance (Philadelphia-area communities), and Second Harvest (Lehigh Valley properties).

We love this annual event, as it’s a wonderful opportunity to give back to the communities in which we operate, and to give our residents a chance to help their neighbors. The property teams really get into the spirit, decorating their collection areas and encouraging their residents to participate – some even offer door-to-door pickup for those residents who can’t make it into the office. At Home Properties, we truly believe that our residents and our employees CAN make a difference – and once again, they proved it with their generosity and another successful food drive!
