Philadelphia is one of the oldest cities in the United States. Both the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution were signed here and, at one time, it was this nation's capital. Founded in 1682 by William Penn, the 'City of Brotherly Love' is a big city that's small enough to feel like home. It features an 8,900-acre park system with lots of recreation options, a picturesque riverfront dotted with collegiate boathouses, Rittenhouse Square, the Reading Terminal Market, the Philadelphia Flower Show, annual Mummer's Parade and much more. Philadelphia is home to Eagles football, Phillies baseball, Sixers basketball, Flyers hockey and the U.S. Pro Cycling championship. It is close to New York City, Atlantic City casinos and the Jersey Shore, the Pocono Mountains and Washington, D.C. The vast network of buses, trolleys, subway and trains make transportation fast and easy throughout city and the region.
