Research Fort Lauderdale Area
Located on the Atlantic coast between Miami and Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale has 23 miles of spectacular beaches that once attracted upwards of 200,000 college students. Today, the city has definitely made the transition to an upscale community with an exciting urban pace. Called the Venice of America, Fort Lauderdale is a collection of islands held together by a web of canals, rivers, and bays - and definitely a water-lover's paradise. The city offers hassle-free transportation, higher than average population growth and a strong economy with marine, manufacturing, finance, technology, aerospace and film/television production companies. The Riverwalk features upscale boutiques, trendy shops and fabulous restaurants. In the midst of the arts and entertainment district is the Broward Center for Performing Arts, which offers an eclectic program of theater, dance and music. The area boasts near ideal weather and 3,000 hours of sunshine annually. It is only a short drive from professional hockey, baseball, basketball, football and more than 40 golf courses.
