Our History

Home Properties is a real estate investment trust (REIT) with operations in selected Northeast, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast Florida markets. We adhere to a simple and straightforward business plan in our effort to provide investors with dependable financial returns that exceed those of comparable investments. Home Properties and its predecessor company have a proven track record of creating and preserving value in multifamily rental housing since 1967.

Our mission is to maximize long-term shareholder value by acquiring, repositioning, developing, and managing market-rate apartment communities while enhancing the quality of life for our residents and providing employees with opportunities for growth and accomplishment.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be a prominent owner and manager of market-rate apartment communities, located in selected suburban, high-barrier, high-growth markets. We will maintain and/or grow portfolios in markets that profitably support our mission.

Home Properties is dedicated to meeting and exceeding the expectations of our customers. Customer loyalty is an essential aspect of our success. Loyalty goes beyond customer service. Every Home Properties employee is expected to demonstrate “customer first” in their decisions, actions, and attitudes. Customer First starts with how you interact with internal customers and co-workers and is the key to building resident loyalty. As a Home Properties employee, you are expected to be responsive to your customers’ needs and make sure they feel valued and respected, heard and understood, and involved in the things that impact them. As a Pay-for-Performance company, we work to tie an employee's total compensation to their performance on the job. Our goal is to align employee results to our recognition and incentive programs to reward high performance. Pay-for-Performance helps us attract and retain high quality employees.
